A Great Place to Dine in Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Roundup Rodeo BBQ is located just inside the main entrance to Toy Story Land in Disney's Hollywood Studios. This family-friendly table service barbecue restaurant is family style and great for anyone who enjoys a good assortment of BBQ.

Fans of Toy Story will particularly love it here, but it really is well suited to anyone who can appreciate its heavy Toy Story theming. The attention to detail is excellent. Pay attention to the plates, as they are made to look like old school picnic paper plates. A great touch!

Even though the atmosphere is full and bustling, it is not overly loud, which was a great bonus. Service was pretty good all things considered and the Disney Cast Members stay right on theme here from the moment you first approach the front doors.

Don't Let the Upbeat and Silly Ambiance Fool You

Don't be put off by the fun (and very well done) theming here, as the food quality is quite good at Roundup Rodeo BBQ. Before our first visit I had been hearing a variety of reviews about food quality and I wasn't quite sure what to expect. Fortunately, we were pleasantly surprised by the food at Roundup Rodeo BBQ.

The menu offers a platter that is delivered family style (you can get refills of anything you like) along with your choice of four side dishes to start (you can request others if you like, but they start you off with four). There is a plant-based option and a traditional BBQ options of meats. We went with the latter. Regardless of which option you choose, you will start off with a trio of greens, including a tomato salad, a fresh watermelon salad and a romaine and kale salad.

This was a lot of food for our party of three, so we did not request additional items (you can, of course request more of anything). However, we were very pleased and quite surprised that the food quality was as good as it was.

The ribs are very good and cooked well, with a nice hint of smokiness. The brisket is sliced—not chopped (which usually indicates lower quality)—and it was very good and moist. The chicken was good as well and the sausage swirl was just okay. But that didn't bother us as the ribs, brisket and chicken are rightfully the stars.

A Couple of Things to Watch For

A key point to note is that Roundup Rodeo BBQ also has a cedar plank salmon option that you can request. It doesn't cost extra and it comes in a small personal size portion (it is on the lower left in the photo above). We tried this salmon and it was also very good (some chose it as the best dish overall). I highly recommend requesting the salmon if that appeals to you.

Another pro tip: go easy on the biscuits that come first! They are great and it's super easy to fill up on those, so pace yourself. There are three bottles of barbecue sauce on the table from which to choose: spicy, sweet and classic. I love spice and the spicy was not spicy, so feel free to try it. The sweet seemed to be the favorite for our table.

As far as the sides go, we went with the baked beans, stuffed potato barrels, mac and cheese and fried pickles. All four sides were very good as well, with the mac and cheese probably the top pick for our group.

Finally, to close out your meal you also get your choice of one of four desserts. The desserts are served in mini mason jars and while they look small, they are actually the perfect size to follow up an all-you-care-to-enjoy barbecue feast! We sampled three of them at the table and they were all just right to cap off a good meal.

All in all, Roundup Rodeo BBQ offers good value (in Disney terms) with food quality that is quite consistent.

This is not fine dining, of course, but it certainly holds its own at Walt Disney World in terms of barbecue offerings. We will definitely return here.

Roundup Rode BBQ is recommended.
